Shiver of excitement
The good June 3rd, 2010B said to me, in the taxi home from the World Financial Center, “It is so exciting to work for a new company, to see it growing, and be part of it! ”
That made me smile. I cranked a brain. I opened up a horizon. This is why I took them.
J and I are celebrating him finishing a big project. I offered to take him out, together with two kids who work with him, and two who work with me - too bad H could not make it. Originally we wanted to go to Grand Hyatt, to Cloud 9 on the 87th floor, but we finally decided to go to the World Financial Center, to the 100 Century Ave. Bar on the 91st floor.
The evening was hazy, one cannot see much other than the tall buildings in the vicinity. From the 91th floor of the World Financial Center, Grand Hyatt looked small, and the Pearl was tiny. The kids took some pictures, but most time they were just sitting and listening to J and I talk shop.
Certainly there was a lot shop to talk about. J and I have not talked for half a year and there is a collaboration coming soon. So this became one of those conversations that decisions made, plans solidified and connections made. Beers, cocktails, fruit wines helped and the sentence exchange got faster and faster.
The interior of 100 Century Ave. is tall wood, panes of flowing white light, segmented by tall bar scattered with stout white pots of plants. The doors to the bathroom was as tall as the ceiling, and when you open the door to enter the individual stall, the toilet lids with a little blue light opens up for you automatically - silly tricks that sends shivers of excitement down one’s spine.
Steams buns 85,
Spring rolls 155,
Total drink out on town 865,
Sending shivers of excitement down your people’s spine, priceless.
